From the desk of … Mrs. Meskill, Principal
Wow, it is hard to believe that this is final edition of the 2009-2010 Newsnotes. It has been a wonderful and busy year here at school. I would like to thank you for your support, for sharing your ideas and thoughts with me, and for your continued commitment and dedication to the school over the last year and years to come.
Graduates:
I would like to wish the 8th grade graduating class of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic School good luck and success in all of their future endeavors. They are a great class and you should watch for them in the papers and in the future to see all the amazing things they will accomplish. They just received the sacrament of Confirmation last Saturday so not only are they prepared academically for the road ahead of them but spiritually as well. The solid foundation of their religious beliefs, values and morals that they learned and developed here at MQP will help guide them when faced with difficult and new situations in high school and beyond. Tomorrow, Friday, is their last school day and then they graduate on Tuesday, June 1. Mass begins at 6:30 pm and the graduation ceremony will follow. Once again, good luck graduates and have a great trip to Chicago!!

Below is a breakdown of our enrollment as of May 26, 2010. If you know of someone who is interested in learning more about our school, please have them contact me. Computers:
The fundraising dollars from this school year were targeted to upgrade the computer lab. I am happy to share with you that the newly refurbished computers will be arriving at school this week!! Mrs. K will be working on them this summer with our volunteer technology consultants to load software and prepare them for September. The funds raised purchased 25 Dell Optiplex Dual Core computers with 3G of memory and updated software to ensure more reliable and faster working computers for the students. Thank you so much for your fundraising efforts!!
I wish everyone a wonderful and relaxing summer and I hope you get to spend some quality time with family and friends. Encourage your children to continue to read some good books over the summer and maybe work on flashcards to keep their reading and math skills sharp. Being a pen pal is a great way to work on writing skills too. Feel free to send me a postcard at school telling me about your great summer adventures!!

All adults working with students & chaperones must attend a session!
Please register online at http://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/ for the class.
All Chaperones and School Volunteers will be required to complete a course before chaperoning any events or volunteering at school for the 2009-2010 school year.
